A major campaign to get more graduates into good jobs and ensure they have the skills needed for the future has been backed by the University of Chichester – with action already being taken on AI skills and employer partnerships.
A report into the current and future landscape for graduates and employers across the UK has led to the Future Jobs Roadmap, which sets out a series of steps for universities and businesses to improve outcomes for the future workforce. Recommendations include providing meaningful work-based experiences, ensuring graduates leave with AI skills and working with employers to co-design learning based on their workforce needs.
The University of Chichester is already taking steps to address the commitments outlined in the Roadmap – with AI modules embedded in Law, Business and Psychology programmes to respond to the ‘evolving landscape’ for graduates. Partnerships with employers is a key part of the University’s offer to its students and the region, for example, the School of Nursing and Allied Health has close ties with the local NHS trusts, while the Business School has strong partnerships with major employers across the region.
Federica Bocciarelli, Careers & Employability Manager at the University, said: “We are always keen to work with employers to co-design opportunities that help students develop the skills, confidence and experience needed for the workplace. These partnerships not only enhance student readiness for their future careers but also enable businesses to engage with emerging talent and address the evolving needs of their organisations and communities. We are looking forward to integrating the Future Jobs Roadmap into our programmes and services to complement the work we are already doing.”
Published by Universities UK (UUK) with support from Pearson and the British Chambers of Commerce, the Future Jobs Roadmap has been developed based on conversations with around 200 employers, business groups and universities and responds to the growing challenge facing young people and employers alike.
