University’s Christmas carol service moves online amid Covid restrictions
MUSICIANS from the University of Chichester will still be performing for Christmas this year – despite the Covid-19 restrictions.
The annual December service, which has been hosted in live since the turn of the century, will be streamed online for the first time in its history on Tuesday 8 December.
Student signers from the Otter Consort will be performing traditional songs and giving Christmas readings at the concert, which starts at 6pm.
University Chaplain Dr Alison Green said: “Due to restrictions around Covid-19, and in order to protect staff and students, this year’s Christmas Carol Service will take place without a congregation. This is a first for us and will be a great chance for our nearby community to safely watch and listen to our renowned musical professionals perform Christmas favourites.”
All musicians and readers will be socially-distanced and will perform in line with the government’s latest health advice.
The service, which will be available to watch online for 30 days, can be seen at https://chiplayer.cloud.panopto.eu/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=5e9046d3-0bec-4625-9a02-ac8400ef52e5.
