About
After graduating from the University of Roehampton with a BA in Dance Studies in 2011, Ceyda was invited to spend four months at The State Turkish Conservatoire for Music and Folk Dance in Izmir, Turkey. Here, Ceyda trained in traditional Turkish folk dance including Zeybek and Denizli, the dance styles of her heritage. Whilst in Izmir, she taught contemporary dance workshops to degree students, youth companies and also a company of professional dance teachers.
On returning to the UK, Ceyda founded Ceyda Tanc Dance, creating a body of contemporary dance works with influence of traditional Turkish folk dance. Since 2012, Ceyda has created four original works, performed  across the UK. Ceyda was also commissioned by the University of Roehampton to collaborate with MA students at the Royal Academy of Music. In 2014, Ceyda was invited to bring her company to Turkey, to tour a triple bill of works at theatres and universities, taking part in traditional Turkish folk dance classes and teaching contemporary dance and repertory classes.
As an independent choreographer and dance facilitator Ceyda has been commissioned to create works on Third Row Dance Company, Lewes College Dance Company and 3Fall Dance Company for 2 consecutive years. For the past four years Ceyda has run a successful youth dance company, reaching the final of U.Dance national festival in 2013 and again in 2015. Ceyda is also regularly commissioned to choreograph music videos, credits include Greymatter, Waze & Odyssey, Light Year, Della Lupa and Joel Wells.
