About
For the last 20 years, James has worked as a professional performer, teacher, and musical director for theatre. His career so far has seen him perform as a soloist and conductor in many parts of the world including, Italy, Latvia, France, Germany, Holland, and Belgium. He has also starred on stage in many leading roles, including: Seussical the Musical, A Tale of Two Cities, and Honk in their UK tours, 42nd Street, and Hairspray. James has made a number of appearances at the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony hall, and the West End also as a singer and conductor. Working as a director of music and performance in secondary education for 16 years, James moved away from the life of the high school in 2017, and has now taken a full time position here at the University of Chichester working within the Music and Musical Theatre departments. Coaching and directing various ensembles and groups, he trains young students as they begin their journey into the musical theatre industry.
A keen musician, James studied Organ with the London College of Music as well as Tuba, Trombone and Bassoon. He is currently the musical director of both the Lancing and Sompting Concert Band and the University of Chichester Big Band. He can often be found in the depths of a theatre under a stage, providing the orchestras and bands for many of the shows in Sussex. James enjoys spending time with his wife and three beautiful children.
