About
Stuart Hutchinson trained at the Royal Academy of Music (Honours Degree and six prizes); conducting studies followed with Leonard Bernstein and Sir John Pritchard whilst working as their assistant.
He has worked with eminent directors and choreographers including Sir Trevor Nunn, Sir Jonathan Miller, Sir David Pountney, Sir Peter Ustinov, George Abbott, George Ballanchine, Sir Kenneth MacMillan and Dame Gillian Lynne.
Over two-hundred production and conducting credits include: Carmen (ENO), Scoring A Century (ENO), The Threepenny Opera (Scottish Opera), Street Scene (Berlin), The Mikado, (NSWO).
West End Musicals: Aspects Of Love, On Your Toes, Alice In Wonderland, Oliver!, Bitter Sweet, Salad Days and Royal Court Theatre’s world premiere of Mark Ravenhill’s Ten Plagues with Marc Almond.
Stuart was Musical Director for Jonathan Miller’s Company at the Old Vic Theatre, Head of Music for Buxton Festival Opera, Dublin Grand Opera and Wexford Festival Opera.
He accompanies many distinguished singers/musicians in concert, including engagements at the Wigmore Hall, South Bank Concert Halls and Barbican Centre. Recordings include EMI, Toshiba, BBC Radio (Sony Award) and TV.
Stuart has conducted for Scottish Ballet, for prima ballerinas Natalia Makarova and Galina Panova. Concert and recording engagements include Philharmonia, National Philharmonic Orchestra, Swedish Concert Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, and The Wren Orchestra of London.

Stuart is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music and has taught at the RAM, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Mountview Theatre Academy.
His work has been recognised with a Sony Award and Gramophone Award.
