Course content

We are excited to bring you this course for 2021 entry.

Course overview

Sociology and criminology are interconnected. Sociology explores the workings of society and human behaviour while Criminology delves into who commits crime and why. Studying the two will allow you to explore sociological issues such as race, gender, poverty, education and youth and how these affect our attitudes and responses to crime and punishment.

Who is this degree for?

Are you keen to study sociology and criminology but think you'd benefit from an additional year building your academic skills? This four-year course gives you the chance to prepare for reading and writing at university level and enables you to explore the criminal justice system and the impact these have on the rehabilitation of individuals and wider society.

Why study this degree?

This integrated foundation year route offers you the chance to:

  • Gain an additional year to build academic skills
  • Enter with lower tariff requirements than the main degree pathway
  • Expand your insight into the subject of sociology and criminology
