Earn credits towards a postgraduate degree or choose to study the non-credit pathway

This PGCert Performance/Advanced Performance course will prepare you for performance employment or further training at postgraduate level. You will focus your studies on a specialist area of instrumental, vocal, orchestral or musical theatre work.

You can complete this course as a non-credit bearing Advanced Performance Course, or as a Postgraduate Certificate in Performance. Studying the Postgraduate Certificate in Performance means you will take additional modules in Performance Portfolio and Lecture Recital.

If you study orchestral performance, you will have the opportunity to engage in various levels of orchestral rehearsal and performance experience.

Specialist Vocal Pathway (Advanced Performance)

This specialist vocal pathway includes vocational training in vocal performance skills. On this pathway you will focus your studies on a specialist area of vocal performance, usually musical theatre or classical singing.

On this pathway, you will complete one-to-one singing lessons, postgraduate vocal performance classes, concerts and mock auditions. You will also attend professional performance tool workshops where you will receive technical help with creating a demo CD, publicity head shots and with CV writing.

Conservatoire Building

Study and rehearse in our practice rooms with grand pianos supplied by Steinway & Sons and use our computerised recording and media studio. 

Learning Resource Centre

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) contains the library, a café, IT/teaching rooms, and the Support and Information Zone (SIZ).

Library

Our campus library holds more than 200,000 books and over 500,000 eBooks.

Entry Requirements

Typical offer (individual offers may vary):

  • An honours degree at 2:2 or higher in a related discipline.
  • International applicants will be required to provide evidence of IELTS 6.5 (with no element less than 6.0) or equivalent.
  • You will also be required to attend an interview for this course.
