WhatUni names University of Chichester number one in South East for teaching quality

The University of Chichester has secured top marks for the quality of its teaching and lecturers, thanks to new rankings from WhatUni, which named it the number one university in the South East in these categories. The new award is further recognition for the University of Chichester, which was named University of the Year for Teaching Excellence by the Daily Mail last year.
The University also holds a gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), and consistently scores highly for employability, with 91% of students in work six months after leaving. In the National Student Survey (NSS) 2025, it was rated 12th out of 131 universities and 1st in the South East for student satisfaction.
The WhatUni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) are the largest annual awards in the UK where the outcome is decided exclusively by students. Every year, WhatUni collect tens of thousands of reviews from students and use it to calculate the winners of the annual WUSCAs.
Professor Symeon Dagkas, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chichester, said: “I’m delighted that WhatUni users have voted us as number one in the South East for lecturers and teaching quality. Teaching excellence can make or break the university experience for students, and we are proud of our reputation. These awards are based on reviews from students past and present, so their views really matter to us.”
WhatUni praised the University of Chichester, saying: “For those who enjoy a campus with a close-knit community, Chichester ticks all the boxes, with an enthusiastic team of teaching staff who are always willing to listen and help.”
