Alison is Deputy Head of Music, Coordinator for the BA (Hons) Programme, Performance Development Coordinator and Bassoon Tutor at the University of Chichester.

She won a scholarship to study music and gained a 1st Class Honours Degree as well as the Wiley Prize for Academic Excellence.  She was also awarded a Distinction at Masters level in Music Performance and studied bassoon under Robin Kennard.

Alison’s role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities and embraces an overarching focus on the ‘quality of the student experience’ across all Programmes under the Department’s umbrella. She strives to raise the profile of student feedback, facilitates and directs change in response to it, and supports our response so that constructive change is speedy, well communicated, and tangible.

Alison also oversees the delivery of one-to-one lessons across the Department, supports the assessment of student performance, and coordinates our BA (Hons) Programme, including the delivery of weekly Performance Workshops and Masterclasses.

Prior to her work with the University, Alison worked for the London Borough of Redbridge Music Service and, latterly, the West Sussex Music Service as Staff Development Tutor, Leader of the Chichester Music Centre, Woodwind Tutor, Ensemble Coach and Bassoon Specialist.

Finally, Alison freelances as a Performance Adjudicator and as a bassoonist, regularly performing in a variety of orchestral and chamber ensembles.  She has recorded for several films, one of which won the Caligari Prize in the Berlin Film Festival.  Alison has also had a selection of published bassoon repertoire dedicated to her.
