Carol has been involved in sports development for over thirty years, as a volunteer and in a range of paid roles. She was one of the founder members of the Rugby Football Union for Women and instrumental in the growth of women’s rugby globally.

She worked for ten years for Westminster City Council as their Sports Development Manager and then was Performance Director and Director of Rugby for the RFUW. Following two years of consultancy she joined The Football Association in 2009 as the Regional Manager for London. Carol remains involved in rugby as a member of the RFU’s Integration Board, and its Women’s Technical Group.

Carol played, coached and administrated at every level of the game, captained GB and England and was the first woman to achieve the RFU’s Level 3 Coaching Award. She was a member of the International Rugby Board’s Rugby Committee chairing their Women's Strategy Group and was a member of the Sevens Strategy Group. Carol was appointed an OBE for services to rugby in 2003.

Other achievements include:

  • the professionalisation of Westminster Sports Unit increasing staff from four to over thirty in ten years with major successes in all areas of sports development including transforming an old youth centre to a sports centre increasing usage from 300 to 8,000 users a month. 
  • The development of football partnerships across London e.g. Inclusive United - a project providing playing opportunities for disabled footballers. The partnership includes 6 County Football Associations, London United (14 pro clubs) and Interactive (the disability organisation for London).
