Tikwiza Silubonde

Tikwiza is passionate about promoting and protecting the integrity of sport, and using sport as a tool for development. This includes a keen interest in women’s empowerment and youth development. She has previously worked for the Commonwealth Secretariat, supporting Commonwealth governments to strengthen policy frameworks aimed at maximizing the contribution of sport to sustainable development.  In this role, she led on supporting the Botswana Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Cultural Development with capacity building and raising awareness on gender equality in sport. 

Tikwiza is a founding board member of Safe Sport Africa, intended to be a network of individuals and organisations committed to the safeguarding of children and adults from non-accidental harms in sport in Africa. In addition to this, Tikwiza has been involved in sports as coach, administrator, student athlete, and community programme volunteer.  She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, with a focus on evaluating the impact of using sport to facilitate personal and professional development among adolescents in Cape Town.  She holds a Master’s degree in Global Studies, focused on Global Governance, Globalisation and Cultural Change.
