This module examines the significance of the internet and new media technologies in sports media. You will explore key issues concerning production, consumption, identity, political economy, co-optation, participatory culture, user-generated content, convergence, commerce, social media and gaming. You will examine these issues in relation to relevant networks, practices and relationships that shape the 21st century sports media landscape. The assessment features a critical evaluation and the option to choose to either write an essay on sports media and the digital landscape, make a short film on mediated sport in the digital landscape, or pitch for a game or app located in the world of sport.
