This module will provide you with a range of fundamental and practical skills, including numeracy, information literacy, writing abilities and essential study skills.
Your lectures will introduce you to the theory and applications of basic techniques used in research and diagnostic practice laboratories, and you will learn about bioethics, risk assessment, control of substances hazardous to health regulations and good laboratory practice.
You will also learn how to use key laboratory equipment.
During the laboratory classes, you will work in groups and individually, using the collected data to write your own laboratory reports and perform calculations. You will work under the supervision of your training officer to complete relevant practical speciality work at your placement laboratory.
