This module focuses on developing the professional and laboratory skills necessary for science careers.
You will learn pathology laboratory practice within the basic pathological disciplines, laboratory workflow, fundamental laboratory practices, standard operational procedures, record-keeping and adherence to good laboratory practice guidelines. You will also advance your presentation techniques and develop teamwork and communication skills during the preparation and delivery of graphics, scientific posts, clinical materials and video presentations.
In addition, this module will cover the tools used in clinical diagnostic practice, diagnostic methods and technology, quality management and codes of practice and standards, including professional integrity and behaviour. You will experience handling emergencies in a laboratory, learning how to follow health and safety protocols, procedures, and laboratory good practice guidelines.
You will also work under the supervision of your training officer to complete relevant practical work at your placement laboratory.
