During this module, you will study the theories, principles and processes of international law, including its sources, legal personality, jurisdiction and realms of responsibility.
In addition, you will be introduced to debates about the regulation of activities at the international context, including the use of force, dispute settlement processes, and the protection of human rights.
A particular focus of the module will be on the role of the United Nations in designing, implementing and safeguarding international law in all these areas, over which there are heated and divisive debates between those pushing the claims of international justice (the solidarists) and those seeking to maintain international order (the pluralists).
