This module aims to introduce you to theoretical and practical concepts related to the development and mentoring of coaches. You will critically examine the methods and processes through which coaches learn and develop. It will embed theories of learning and critically explore philosophies of education as they relate to the development of competent sports coaches. This module will also critically examine the effectiveness of a competency-based outcome focused model of coach education against a more traditional and sometimes didactic method of education. You will critically examine specific coaching behaviours and evaluate their utility and contribution to the coaching process, as well as how to assess, improve, and evaluate these behaviours in others.
