This module will familiarise you with a series of key texts from the late Victorian period, covering the 1880s through to the turn of the century.
It will focus on some of the major conflicts and controversies associated with this time of significant change and will consider the different ways in which a range of writers responded to these concerns.
The module will develop your skills in the application of contextual and historical knowledge to the structure and content of a range of texts, including novels, poetry, and short stories. The module will also help you to continue to develop the skills of close textual analysis, which you will rely on throughout your degree.
