Home Course Modules Lifespan Development

Lifespan Development

This module aims to enable students to understand some of the major theories of developmental psychology. The module will familiarise students with the diversity of lifespan development models and enable students to recognise critical and transitional points in human development and the influence of these in later life. This will include an introduction to psychopathology reviewed from counselling and therapeutic perspectives. The practical aim is to enable students to appreciate the multi-dimensional nature of the human life course, thus developing a flexible practice framework which includes a clarity about theories of development and psychopathology. This module will prepare students to work with clients from various stages in their developmental process (students are permitted to work with clients aged 16 or over) as well as accommodating the uniqueness of individuality.
