This module will build on research skills acquired during your bachelor’s degree and previous learning to enable the undertaking and completion of an empirical research study at Masters level.
This module is designed to support the understanding of research methods necessary to be able to formulate an appropriate testable research question, design a study with the capability to answer that research question and to present this as a correctly formatted and appropriately presented research proposal.
The module will review and develop literature searching and critical appraisal skills. You will utilise and display findings of an appropriate critical appraisal tool and methodology in the analysis of research papers/findings to present a systematic review. Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data will develop skills in protocol and journal writing.
To prepare for an Ethics Committee submission, where appropriate, research governance training will be provided.
