Teaching and Learning and SEND

This module will develop your critical knowledge and understanding of inclusive practice and pedagogy.

The module enables you to develop an in-depth understanding of the role and responsibilities of the teacher, as well as considering the roles of other stakeholders.

The module will consider the structure and expectations of the statutory and non-statutory guidance for meeting the needs of all children. You will critically analyse current debates about contextual influences on inclusion within primary education, such as social, cultural and economic influences.

This module will consider the value of adaptive teaching and will develop student teachers’ knowledge of how this may be achieved in both specialist and mainstream settings.

Other areas of focus will include the voice of the child, rights-based approaches to practice, partnerships with families, transitions and working with other professionals.
