Witchcraft and Magic in Early Modern Europe, 1400-1800

You’ll explore the extraordinary phenomenon that destroyed entire communities in early modern Europe when the use of magic was outlawed and witch-hunting was ferociously prosecuted.

Societies throughout this period were imbued with notions of magic inherited from ancient civilisations, but religious attitudes changed dramatically during the Reformation era and fear of heresy and the occult intensified, resulting in the widespread persecution of many of those suspected of witchcraft.
