Choreographer Kate Prince to feature in live podcast recording of ResDance

Celebrated choreographer Kate Prince will feature in the first ever live episode of dance research podcast ResDance in November.

Creator of ResDance, Dr Gemma Harman, will interview the writer, director and choreographer Kate Prince. As Artistic Director of ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company, which she founded in 2002, Kate is also an Associate Artist at both The Old Vic and Sadler’s Wells. The episode will be recorded on Thursday 13 November, 8pm, at The Nest, Chichester Festival Theatre in front of a live audience.

Kate’s work has been nominated for five Olivier Awards, a South Bank Sky Arts Award, a WhatsOnStage Award and three Critic’s Circle National Dance Awards, winning the latter in 2024 for best mid-scale dance company. She has an MA from the University of Edinburgh, an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Winchester and an MBE for services to dance.

Reflecting on ResDance’s first live episode, Gemma Harman said: “Recording ResDance in front of a live audience has been in the pipeline for a while, and I am excited that we’re able to do it on home turf with the support of The Nest at Chichester Festival Theatre. I am also delighted to be joined by Kate Prince as my guest for the evening. Having followed her work for a number of years, and seen it inspire professionals and students alike, I’m sure it will prove to be an interesting and enlightening conversation

“I started ResDance back in 2021 while juggling lecturing online with home-schooling my two young daughters during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. What began as a way of inspiring my own students has erupted into a podcast with an international reach and no hint of slowing down as we near the 100th episode.”

ResDance is a podcast, now in its ninth series, which champions all forms of dance research and provides a platform for contributors from higher education and conservatoire institutions, arts organisations and freelance artists, giving a voice to anyone and everyone within dance research, science and practice.

ResDance has a global reach and is listened to in 71 countries world-wide by an audience of over 9.4k people. The podcast has also resulted in a book published earlier this month with Routledge, while early episodes have been included in the Routledge Performance Archive.
