Community orchestra welcome all to Christmas concert

Did you know that the University of Chichester has a thriving community orchestra?

Come and enjoy the magic of the festive season at our free concert on Wednesday 10 December on our Chichester campus.

The Encore Chichester Community Orchestra, led by Professor Laura Ritchie, will play a mixture of classical and seasonal favourites from 7pm. The programme includes the Finale to Stravinsky’s Firebird, Bernstein’s Mambo, Haydn Trumpet Concerto, Sleigh Ride, Sussex Carol, and White Christmas.

Orchestra spokepserson Laura Ritchie said: “We are all amateurs, but there will be an overwhelming sense of joy and of coming together to create something more – that is the magic of an orchestra. All the parts come together because the people come together. We are doctors, and computer technicians, reflexologists, orthodontists, jewellery designers, architects, psychologists, parents, sisters, uncles, and more – we are community, and we are the Encore Chichester Community Orchestra. We would like to invite you to share in the music with us, on 10 December, and perhaps if you play an instrument you might consider joining us in the New Year! You would be very welcome.”

The concert takes place in the Chapel on the Chichester campus on College Lane, just a ten-minute walk from the town centre. Paid parking is available in nearby car parks or on site.

The orchestra always welcomes new members. For more information on how to join visit https://encore-orchestra.org/about/
