THE University of Chichester is delighted to announce that the Attorney General will be speaking about her illustrious career at a virtual lecture this week.

The Rt Hon Suella Braverman QC MP will talk about her role as the Government’s most senior legal advisor during a year of challenges brought on by the Covid pandemic. The online event, which starts at 12pm on Thursday 4 February, is free for all with tickets available from uocinconversationwith.eventbrite.co.uk.

Widely recognised as a trailblazer for young lawyers, Suella Braverman will join students from the University’s LLB Law and Politics degrees to talk about how she started her career as a barrister before becoming MP for Fareham. They will be joined by pupils from nearby colleges interested in studying law or politics at higher education.

The Attorney General is a champion for the pro-bono work and public legal education that has continued throughout the pandemic. She will discuss the benefits of pro-bono work when starting a legal career and the importance of this work to society.

Senior lecturer Dr Amy Elkington, who oversees the University’s LLB Law degree, see video below, said: “We are thrilled to welcome the Attorney General to Chichester. Suella’s inspirational career is blazing a trail for women nationwide, and she is creating a legacy that young lawyers will study for years.

“The Attorney General will be speaking at Chichester after a fascinating year dominated by Brexit and the Covid pandemic. This is an unmissable opportunity to hear from one of the country’s leading figures on the most pressing legal matters that are influencing modern-day Britain.”
