About

At the age of 11 Ruth was awarded a prestigious scholarship with the Royal Academy of Dance, which she held until joining the Royal Ballet Upper School aged 16, where she was a contemporary of Alessandra Ferri, Michael Clark, Russell Maliphant. After graduating, Ruth accepted a contract in Germany with The Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and then as a soloist with The Staedtische Buhnen Osnabrueck.

Having danced professionally in Europe for 12 years, performing in classical ballet, opera ballet, contemporary repertoire and musicals, Ruth retired from the stage after the birth of her son, and discovered the joy of teaching and the chance to pass on the magic of dance and theatre.

Ruth received her teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance with distinction and has trained and coached students, in England and Europe, to successful entry into some of the world’s top vocational dance schools, including:

She has held a series of lectures in Hamburg on The Art of Safe Teaching Practice and Understanding Dance Technique.

Ruth currently teaches ballet at Laine Theatre Arts and at the University of Chichester,  as well as running her own school. She is an experienced choreographer. Her choreographic achievements include full length children’s productions: The Nutcracker, The Pied Piper of Hamlin, Peter and the Wolf, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Beatrix Potter.
