About

Jason Branagan is a Senior Lecturer in the Film Department and an award-winning writer and director working across film and television. He continues to work in the industry alongside his academic role.

Recent projects include writing and directing The Ick, a one-off comedy-drama for RTÉ; the Screen Ireland short film Magic Markers; and second unit directing on Season 3 of The Capture for NBC Universal, BBC, and Heyday Films. Other television directing credits include EastEnders (BBC), Fair City (RTÉ), and The Doireann Project (RTÉ Player).

Jason runs Playbook Media, a film and television production company based in Ireland, with a slate of projects in active development with state film agencies and broadcasters.

He holds an MA in Filmmaking from Raindance Film School and a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Producing from TU Dublin. Jason is an alumnus of the Reykjavik IFF Talent Lab, Screen Ireland’s Screen Mentoring Programme, and Directors UK’s Inspire initiative. He is also a BAFTA Connect member, a member of the IFTA Directing Chapter, the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland, and Directors UK.
