Virtual Open Day

Graduates of 2020

It is with much regret, that the University has taken the decision to postpone our 2020 graduation ceremonies due to concerns around Covid-19.

We have been closely following the developing position on Covid-19, and had hoped to be able to proceed with the ceremonies. However, unfortunately it is still not clear how long we will be facing social distancing and travel restrictions. Therefore, after careful consideration, we have taken the difficult decision to act now to give you advance warning.

We understand you may be disappointed about this decision. We can assure you that it has not been taken lightly, but our primary concern is the health and wellbeing of our students, guests and staff. It is important to stress that postponing graduation ceremonies does not impact on the University awarding you your degree, providing you meet the requirements of your course.

We hope to operate the undergraduate and postgraduate ceremonies which will take place alongside our 2021 ceremonies (see below). Therefore, if our graduation parties are permitted to operate, this will allow students from both 2020 and 2021 to see each other once again.

Graduates of 2021

At present we are planning to operate ceremonies at the normal points in the year. This would mean that undergraduate ceremonies would take place in late August (16 – 29 August), and postgraduate ceremonies would take place in October. This is dependent on the restrictions on mass gatherings being lifted by this date. Therefore, in preparation for this, we are investigating both indoor and outdoor venues that permit appropriate social distancing. We will keep this page updated with any changes to this plan, and also email our student and staff body once further guidance is clear.
