Exercise benefits of berries revealed at University open lecture
THE health benefits of berry supplements – and how they help when exercising – will be revealed at the University of Chichester this month.
Professor Mark Willems, who specialises in exercise physiology, will be speaking about the advantages of using berries when training on Wednesday 10 October. The seminar, which starts at 6pm, is free for the public as well as University students and staff.
Professor Willems, from the University’s Institute of Sport, said: “Fruit and vegetables are multi-ingredient functional foods with health properties that justify daily consumption. The lecture will focus on the emerging benefits of exercise and berry intake with a focus on how it affects the working of skeletal muscles with consequences for exercise and health of athletes and also the general population.”
The inaugural lecture takes place in the Mitre Lecture Theatre on Bishop Otter Campus, University of Chichester, College Lane, West Sussex, PO19 6PE. Tickets are free for all but should be booked in advance from www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/muscle-exercise-health-and-berries-a-growing-connection-tickets-50681544865.
