Severe weather update

UPDATE (Saturday 4.00pm): We are pleased to advise that the conditions on both University campuses have improved during Saturday such that from tomorrow, Sunday 4 March, the University will be open. The Learning Resources Centres at both campuses are open today as outlined in the last update message. The University will be open on Monday as normal.

UPDATE (4.00pm): Due to the continuing adverse weather, the University campuses will remain closed on Saturday 3 March with the exception of the Learning Resources Centres which will be open from 10am on Saturday and will remain open 24 hours throughout the weekend, unless the weather conditions change.

Services for residential students, caretaking and campus security remain in place across the weekend.

A further review of the situation will be made at 3.00pm on Saturday when a decision will be made regarding whether the campuses will be open on Sunday.

It is anticipated that all University services will be open as usual from 8am on Monday morning. Further announcements will be made by all staff/all student emails and posted on the University website.

Due to the severe weather the University campuses are closed today Friday 2 March to all non-residential students and to staff, other than those identified below.

Services to residential students will be maintained during the period of severe weather. If it is safe for the following categories of staff to travel to the University they should do so to support residential students and general campus security.

  • Accommodation Staff
  • Catering Staff
  • Caretakers
  • Facility Managers
  • Security

It is anticipated that the weather will improve by Monday and further updates will be made via our homepage and social media channels.
