Touring through terror: University academic co-edits special issue of Liminalities online journal
Dr Andrew Wilford from the University of Chichester’s department of Theatre has guest co-edited a specialist issue of Liminalities online performance journal about terror, travel, and tourism.
The open-access issue, including Dr Jonathan Skinner (Life Sciences) and Paul Antick (Photography) of the University of Roehampton, is dedicated to interdisciplinary research on relationships between travel, tourism, and terror in all of its forms.
The interests pursued in Terror and the Tour are reflected by the internationality of the issue’s contributors as well as the sites of their various research concerns.
Dr Wilford said: “In utilising the online format of the journal, a series of written articles are presented alongside digital installation and videos.”
These include Dr Wilford’s video-essay Between Beirut and Bethlehem (Confessions Of A Tourorist) available to view at http://liminalities.net/12-5/between.html.
This special issue of Liminalities has been launched ahead of the Terror On Tour symposium to be hosted by the University of Innsbruck at the end of March, 2017.
Julie Hesmondhaigh, recipient of an honorary master’s degree from the University of Chichester in 2014, features among this year’s participants who will be addressing themes of borders, detours and contingencies.
Dr Wilfrod added: “Perhaps most famous for her role as Hayley Cropper in ITV’s Coronation Street, Julie will perform as part of Take Back Theatre Collective’s new project, Build A Wall.”
The full version of Liminalities, Volume 12, issue 5 (2016), on Terror and The Tour can be viewed at http://liminalities.net/12-5.
