Alan Morrison: Poet, Publisher, Critic In Conversation with Naomi Foyle

Alan Morrison Conversation Naomi Foyle

Come and hear Alan Morrison discuss his prolific literary career and read from his new collection, Rag Argonauts (Caparison, 2024).

In these erudite and emotionally charged poems, disparate and desperate characters from ancient Greek orator Demosthenes and Swedish artist/mystic Hilma af Klint to T.S. Eliot and W.H. Auden navigate ragged waters with fabulous beings, including a Stochastic Parrot (AI large language model program) capable of sentient thought, and Harpies-persecuted Phineus of Greek mythology transposed as a benefit claimant preyed upon by the Department for Work and Pensions.

Alan Morrison has published twelve poetry collections with six UK presses. Poems and monographs have appeared in over 80 journals, and his poetry has been translated into Arabic, Portuguese, Romanian, Swedish and Ukrainian.

Alan is a regular poetry reviewer, the editor of three anti-austerity anthologies, co-editor of Out of Gaza: New Palestinian Poetry (Smokestack Books, 2024), and founding editor of The Recusant and Militant Thistles poetry webzines, and The Recusant imprint, Caparison.
