Part I Screening of biopic “Dreams Are Free” charting the rise, fall and redemption of this talented musician, composer and storyteller. Q&A follows with Spike Wells, legendary jazz drummer and longtime friend and colleague of Bobby + Paul Dutnall, film cameraman and colleague of filmmaker Gary Barber (sadly passed this year).
Part II Live Jazz: we are delighted to be able to welcome the members of Bobby’s last great quartet: Mark Edwards (piano) Andy Cleyndert (bass), and Spike Wells (drums). Bobby’s part will be played by the great tenor saxophonist Mornington Lockett. They will perform Bobby’s classic compositions and favourite tunes. Drinks and snacks will be provided in the interval.
Wellins had a long and varied career though lived in Bognor Regis for 40 years, he played and taught locally also. We are donating ticket proceeds to local charity, Dementia Support who supported Bobby’s wife, Isabella, in her later years with dementia.
