Putting Women back into History one Statue at a time

Cloisters, Bishop Otter Campus

Kate Mosse CBE - bestselling novelist, non-fiction writer, playwright and the Founder Director of the Women's Prizes – will be joining us at the University to talk about an extraordinary cast of characters whose place in history needs to be reclaimed.

Shining a light on the hidden histories of local women – including Madge Turner – and their role in the suffrage movement, Kate will also delve into the lives of women from across the globe who have played a significant role in championing the rights of women.

Inspired by Kate’s bestselling book, Warrior Queens and Quiet Revolutionaries: How Women (Also) Made the World, expect an illuminating and wide ranging discussion which will encourage us all to question how history is made and to consider how we might honour and celebrate both the warrior queens and the quiet revolutionaries from our past.

This is a fundraising event for The Chichester Suffragist Statue Appeal to coincide with the Exhibition ‘Madge Turner and The Women’s Freedom League’ currently being held in the Library Building at Chichester University. This Exhibition is sponsored by the Chichester Women’s History Group.

Car Parking is pay by phone Monday – Friday 8am-6pm £1.90 per hour. All other times £1.35 set fee.
