About

Debbie is the subject co-ordinator for the English route of the Secondary PGCE programme, and is also the coordinator of the Professional Studies modules.  She also contributes to a number of other programmes including working as a Link Tutor on the School Direct programme and running the Teacher Conversion and Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses in English.

EXPERIENCE

Before taking up her current post, Debbie was the English Advisor for Southampton Local Authority.  Prior to this she was subject leader and English teacher in a number of schools, some in the Southampton area.

INTERESTS

Debbie has a particular interest in the initial and continuing development of teachers of English in the secondary context.

Debbie holds a BA (Hons) degree in English and American Literature, a PGCE in Secondary English and MA (Ed).  She is currently completing her doctorate in Education, focusing her research on secondary English reader identity and reading practices.
