About
I currently lead the Institute of Sport, Nursing and Allied Health with over 1000 students and over 90 academic, research and technical staff teaching across undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees and international projects. As Director I have led the development of a portfolio of highly respected degrees and internationally recognised research.
I chair the Strategic Leadership Team and Institute Management Group, the postgraduate coordinators group and have previously been coordinator of the BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and MSc in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics degrees.
I continue to enjoy teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Sports Biomechanics and currently supervise two PhD students, having also had six PhD completions. I lead on planning, budgets, financial arrangements of projects and have overall responsibility for all Sport activities.
I serve as a member of the REF Project Team and led the REF2014 submission for UoA26 – Sport and Exercise Sciences, Tourism and Leisure. I am a member of Academic Board and a Staff Governor.

I have overall responsibility for income targets (In excess of £3 million won since becoming HOD) and have personally negotiated links such as the RYA Sports Science Physiology post (£50k p.a.) and PhD position (£5k p.a. contribution). At REF2014 the there was an overall unit contribution of £420k and this has grown to in excess of £3m since 2015.
