About

Rosey is a senior lecturer in Creative & Digital Technologies and has worked at the University of Chichester since 1997 contributing across the curriculum, as well as to a range of modules in other departments. She has a Master’s degree in Creative Media and is a Fellow of The Royal Society For The Arts.

Rosey’s research has been presented at conferences, both nationally and internationally, and she has published on aspects of feminism, fan cultures, sexuality, girl’s cultures and media representations of transgressive femininities. Rosey has specialisms in feminist research, social media and the emotions and media activism. Her current research is exploring the mediated personalisation and celebritisation of contemporary politicians. Previous research also includes historical representations of women’s motorcycling and motorcycle sub-cultures; girl’s cultures, fan communities, the relationship between the media and body ideals, sexuality, media activism and celebrity politics.

Much of Rosey’s contribution to the teaching curriculum includes critical approaches to understanding mobile communications, social media and cultural change, Global Film and Television, Reality TV, Celebrity Politics and Comedy.

Throughout her teaching practice Rosey continuously seeks to enhance the teaching and learning experience of students by celebrating diversity in the teaching environment. Her teaching specialism is in the development of strategies to support and build confidence in students who may come from Widening Participation backgrounds, and who may face additional challenges to their learning experience.

In a previous life Rosey worked in nursing, social care and youth work counselling homeless young people. She has also been a motorcycle instructor.
