South Asia Specific Entry Requirements

Undergraduate
- Successful completion of year 12 schooling
AND
- A recognised International Foundation Year.
Postgraduate
- Bachelors of Engineering from Kabul University with 80% or above.
OR
- Masters (2 years) showing a minimum GPA of 2.0, Grade C or 70-79%.
MPhil or PhD
The normal requirement for an MPhil is a good honours degree (First or Upper-Second class) or a relevant Masters degree. For a PhD the normal entry requirement is an MPhil.
Chichester runs a Pre-PhD Research Study Programme whereby applicants register for six tutorials at low cost in order to carry out various feasibility studies, including some testing of interest, materials, methods and resolve.
Undergraduate
- Higher Secondary Certificate and International Foundation Year or
- 2-year Bachelor's degree (60%/3.0 GPA)Â or
- (Engineering or related courses only) Diploma in Engineering (Bangladesh Technical Education Board): 60% or GPA 3.0/4.0
Postgraduate
4-year and 5-year Bachelor’s degree from a good private university. GPA 3.0 / 60%
OR
3-year Bachelor's degree + Masters GPA 3.0/4.0 or 60%.
Undergraduate with Integrated Foundation Year
Applicants who do not meet standard undergraduate entry requirements but have relevant skills or experience may be considered for our Integrated Foundation Year programmes.
This typically includes the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Standard 12) from CBSE, CISCE, or State Boards with an average of 50%–59.9%. Applications are assessed individually.
Undergraduate
Applicants are expected to hold one of the following:
- Higher Secondary School Certificate (Standard 12)Â from CBSE, CISCE, or State Boards with an average of 60%+Â (or 55%+ for West Bengal Board)
- A-Levels: Minimum BBB to BCC
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Minimum 28 points
- Completion of a recognised foundation programme (see our list of pre-approved providers here)

Postgraduate
Applicants should hold a 3- or 4-year bachelor’s degree (e.g., BA, BSc, BCom) in a relevant subject from:
- A Central or recognised State university
- A well-ranked deemed or private university
- A Centre of Advanced Study
Open university degrees may be considered on a case-by-case basis and must be UGC-recognised and equivalent to a standard bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of 55% (approx. CGPA 5.85) is typically required for 4-year degrees, and 60% (approx. CGPA 6.21) for 3-year degrees. Only grades from the final two years of study are considered. Higher grades may be required for competitive or subject-specific programmes.
MPhil or PhD
- MPhil: A good honours degree (First or Upper Second Class) or a relevant Master’s degree.
- PhD: Normally requires an MPhil.

IELTS Waiver for Indian Applicants: We may waive IELTS for applicants who scored 70%+ in English in Standard 12 (first attempt). The certificate must be dated within 7 years of the course start date. Grade requirements may vary by State Board.
Note: Some accredited or professional programmes may still require IELTS or an equivalent English test.
Undergraduate
School Leaving Certificate (SLC)
- 2018 and after: acceptable for direct undergraduate entry. GPA 3.0 or higher
- Up to and including 2017: NOT acceptable for direct entry. 70% undergraduate or higher with a recognised International Foundation Year
Postgraduate
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree with 60%, CGPA 2.2
OR
- Three-year Bachelor’s degree with 65%, CGPA 2.6
