James graduated from the University of Chichester with a First-Class BA Honours degree in Physical Education and Sports Coaching in 2019. His undergraduate research focused on a gender comparison of physical education teachers’ attitudes toward inclusive physical education. James then pursued postgraduate studies at Loughborough University, obtaining a master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology in 2020.
Following this, he was awarded a Doctoral Fee Scholarship and Subwardenship to study for a PhD at Loughborough University under the supervision of Dr David Maidment and Prof Daniel Rhind, which he completed in August 2024.
James’s research interests involve developing and evaluating digital health interventions aimed at increasing physical activity and reducing non-communicable disease risks in adults with comorbidities.
He has showcased his work nationally and internationally on several occasions (e.g., Canada, UK, USA).
In September 2024, James took on a role as a Postgraduate Associate in Health Psychology. In this role, he will support the University’s collaboration with the local Integrated Care Board in launching a Community Diagnostics Centre on its Bognor Regis campus, as well as supporting teaching and learning on the psychology programs within the Institute of Psychology, Business, and Human Sciences.
