About
Julie joined the University in October 2023 after a 16-year career as a Social Worker, mainly working in Children’s Services for several Local Authorities.
She has an MSC in Social Work gained from the University of London and extensive experience in working with children and their families within the child protection and children with disabilities areas. Julie is also trained in delivering therapeutic interventions, such as Video Interaction Guidance, to support parents in their care of their children. Her particular area of interest is domestic abuse and, throughout her social work career completed a significant amount of work with both victim/survivors of domestic abuse and perpetrators of abuse.
Julie is a Practice Educator and has trained in the delivery of specialised risk assessments relating to perpetrators of abuse.
Prior to becoming a Social Worker, Julie worked with adults with learning disabilities supporting them to maintain their independence and also taught English both in the UK and abroad.
