About
Karen is a senior lecturer in mathematics education and the programme co-ordinator for the BSC (Hons) Mathematics and Teaching (QTS) degree; the very same programme she graduated from here at Chichester in 2009. Karen also manages the Subject Knowledge Enhancement programme in mathematics for the University.
Experience:
Karen has a range of experience teaching mathematics in the secondary phase, both in mainstream education and in a specialised SEND setting Prior to coming to work at the University of Chichester she worked for 7 years in secondary mathematics education for West Sussex in the 11-16 sector both as subject leader in a BESD school and assistant curriculum leader in a secondary mainstream school. Alongside this Karen was also involved also with ITT mentoring, and leading on teaching and learning practices.
Interests:
Karen’s specific areas of interest are educational psychology specific to mathematics learning and the importance of curriculum continuity in mathematics across the transition phases between primary and secondary education.
