About
Previously a class teacher across the primary age range, mathematics leader and assistant headteacher, Sam has undertaken CPD with a number of schools focusing on topics such as: mathematical reasoning; questioning; developing good quality mathematical activities within an investigative approach; working with parents; curriculum delivery; and AfL. In her work with the University of Chichester’s Academy Trust, she has co-developed and led the implementation and evaluation of a professional learning model that prioritises professional enquiry and agency.
Sam is a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics.

Research
Her research interests lie in the fields of mathematics teaching and evaluation, and more broadly in professional development. She is particularly interested in communities of practice, leading sustainable change, developing inclusive learning cultures, playful pedagogy and the influence of educational policy on practice.
PhD
Sam was awarded a Doctorate in Education by the University of Reading for her study ‘Beyond a checklist? A multiple case study exploration of the perceptions and experiences of teachers, mathematics subject leaders and senior leaders of the evaluation of primary mathematics teaching.’
