Dr. Yee Sing Chin
Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering
About
Yee Sing has graduated with a first class honours in Mechanical Engineering with minor in Petroleum, received the Energy Prize from Cranfield University and obtained her Ph.D degree from University of Leeds. She is passionate about renewable energy, particularly energy from biomass and solar. One of her projects on solid fuel briquettes bagged a gold medal in the International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products in Geneva, Switzerland and she is one of the patent holders for the intellectual property: Oil Palm Biobriquetting Process. In collaboration with various energy related industry in the UK, she performed computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of biomass-coal co-firing and assessed the self-heating fire risk of using biomass fuel in UK power stations. For solar energy, she applies her knowledge in thermal-fluid science in improving the solar chimney design for better power generation efficiency.
