Dr Rehanet Isa is a dynamic senior lecturer in accounting and finance with a distinguished track record of over 16 years of academic excellence, international research recognition, professional practice and a strong commitment to inclusive, impactful education.

She is a recipient of highly prestigious research awards from global institutions, including the World Bank, the Pan African Federation of Accountants, and the International Institute for Policy Review & Development Strategies.

In the classroom, Dr Rehanet is known for being flexible, innovative, and student-centered, employing a wide range of interactive teaching strategies that promote engagement, critical thinking, and real-world application. Outside the classroom, Dr Rehanet continues to promote strong partnerships, knowledge exchange activities, academic mentoring, outreach and research.

Dr Rehanet has a strong background in curriculum design and quality assurance, having worked in collaboration with the United Nations on developing accounting education frameworks and curriculum reforms aligned with global standards and sustainable development goals.

At the university she also serves as the Head of Outreach & Partnership for the business school, where she fosters collaborations between academia, industry, and the wider community to drive funding, innovation in outreach, research impact, and student employability.

  • She specialises in contemporary areas of accounting and finance, specifically in sustainability, intellectual capital, green accounting, strategic management accounting and financial risk & ratios.
  • She is proficient in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including statistical tools such as SPSS and STATA for advanced data analysis.
  • She is also proficient in mixed-method research designs, including both quantitative econometrics and qualitative case study approaches.
  • She has successfully supervised over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
  • She is actively engaged in collaborative and interdisciplinary research, contributing to the design of data-driven policy frameworks and innovation.
  • She has successfully received two research grants.

PhD Supervision Interest

Dr Rehanet Isa holds a PhD in Accounting with distinction. Her research interests span sustainability, green accounting, intellectual capital, financial risk, and strategic management accounting.

Dr Rehanet is particularly interested in either quantitative, qualitative or mixed-method research approaches, combining econometric analysis and qualitative case studies. She offers strong academic mentorship and supports doctoral candidates in producing policy-relevant and industry-informed research with global impact.

She welcomes PhD supervision across contemporary and interdisciplinary topics.
