Professor Hugh Dunkerley

Professor of Literature and Environment

Professor Dunkerley campaigns to get sustainability embedded across the UK curriculum to encourage more young people to engage with environmental issues. He is a vocal critic of climate change and has won awards for his books and articles which tackle environmental issues (including fracking). 

Areas of expertise include:

  • The future of Planet Earth.
  • Extinction Rebellion – and the impact of other environmentalist groups).

Senior Lecturer

Becky’s expertise lies in social mobility and widening participation. She has developed the ‘From Adversity to University’ programme, which has been nationally acclaimed and has supported many non-traditional entrants into higher or further education. Her research focuses on the transformational potential of education to change lives.

Areas of expertise include:
  • Homelessness and addiction
  • Refugees and asylum seekers
  • Care-experienced young adults (care leavers)
