Overview

Explore the research in cultural mindsets within education settings to support your growth strategies

This certificate is designed for you if you work in education and want to develop the skills to foster a growth mindset in your organisation.

If you are working on programmes or professional learning activities around mindsets in education, explore the research and evidence base on this course to inform your practice.

You will engage in a critical interrogation of relevant research and you will complete an evaluation of interventions designed for education settings.

On this course, you will complete a reflective analysis of how relevant stakeholders, such as school leaders, teachers, parents and pupils, are engaged in strategies to foster growth mindsets, and in turn, improve outcomes.

Successful completion of the PGCert will give you 60 credits towards the MA Education.

On this course you will:

  • Gain specialist knowledge in implementing a growth mindset culture in education settings
  • Earn 60 credits towards an MA in Education

Develop your knowledge and skills of growth mindset strategies within education settings

Exploring Research: Informing and Changing Practice

This module supports you to become an agent of change within your workplace. You will consider theoretical frameworks that have a clear focus on the place of practitioner research as a tool for improving practice.

Independent Study: Growth Mindset

This module offers you the opportunity to explore the research and evidence base surrounding mindsets to foster a growth mindset culture within your classroom, work environment or school. Indicative module content includes a critical interrogation of theoretical and empirical research; indicators of growth and fixed mindsets and interventions designed to foster a growth mindset.

Teaching

Delivery of the Postgraduate Certificate: Professional Studies in Education, Growth Mindset takes the form of taught and facilitated sessions over two modules.

Tutorials will focus on the substantive topic, facilitating discussion of ideas, research sources and references, theoretical models, policy implications etc.

The delivery of this module will include electronic message board facilities to assist communication between students.

Assessment

You will be asked to demonstrate your independent research skills through literature reviews and essays.

You will be encouraged to complete assignments that are linked to your workplace practice and personal interest.

  • An honours degree at 2:2 or higher.
