About

Charlie is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics and teaches on all of the mathematics undergraduate programmes as well as the Data Science MSc.

Experience: 

For the past three years Charlie has been employed as a Senior Lecturer at the university. Before this Charlie was a PhD student at the University of Sussex from where he obtained his doctorate in Mathematics in 2017. Apart from his PhD, Charlie also holds a first-class Master of Mathematics degree from the University of Sussex. During his time as an undergraduate at the University of Sussex, Charlie was the recipient of the prestigious McQuitty prize.

In addition to his current role, Charlie is currently completing the Academic Professional Apprenticeship at the university. Upon completion of this apprenticeship, Charlie will be eligible for professional recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Interests: 

Charlie’s research interests broadly lie in the fields of Geometric Analysis and Calculus of Variations. He has authored a number of papers in peer-reviewed mathematics journals and his research has led to him giving multiple talks at mathematical seminars across the UK.
