Department of
Psychology and Counselling

Are you fascinated by people and why they behave the way they do?

Psychology is the scientific study of experience and behaviour - why we do what we do, how we interact with other people and the emotional significance we attach to this. These studies have gained increasing importance across a wide range of professional activities, including human resources, education, sport, social care and the creative industries.

Counselling Training is offered as a separate route by the Department and is a Professional Training leading to a clinical qualification. Courses are offered from Introductory level (Certificate in Counselling Skills) through to practitioner qualification (Diploma and BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling) and beyond (Continuing Professional Development Workshops). The courses are run by an experienced team of practicing counsellors and offer qualifications that equip counsellors to practice in a variety of contexts. The BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
