If you fancy a bit of culture at an internationally-recognised theatre, the Chichester Festival Theatre produces high quality shows including 'Oklahoma!', 'Me and My Girl' and 'Fiddler on the Roof'. The Theatre also attracts high profile guests with the Queen visiting in 2018. As a student, you will get discounted tickets for performances, and some departments often hold seminars and workshops at the Theatre, so there's no excuse for missing out. 

Chichester Cathedral is one of the city’s most historic and iconic buildings and is situated in the heart of the city centre. It’s breath-taking architecture has remained for over 900 years, combining medieval features and contemporary artworks. It is home to the impressive Bishop’s Palace Gardens, the perfect place for a picnic. You can visit the Cathedral and explore it’s grounds for free, it is open daily.



Chichester has many fantastic galleries including the Pallant House Gallery, which holds one of the most celebrated collections of twentieth century art in the country, and the Oxmarket Centre of the Arts, which hosts exhibitions by local artists and art organisations.

The South Downs National Park begins 1.5 miles from our Chichester campus. From rolling hills to bustling market towns, the South Downs National Park’s landscapes cover 1,600km2 of breath-taking views and hidden gems. Discover the white cliffs of the Seven Sisters, rolling farmland, ancient woodland and lowland heaths, and enjoy traditional country pubs.



Our wonderful and talented Music and Theatre departments run events throughout the year that students are able to attend and watch free of charge. You will have the ability to attend a range of events such as vocal concerts, open piano workshops, cabaret performances, jazz nights and so much more. Take a look at our events pages to find out more about upcoming events. Our Fine Art department hold exhibitions throughout the year that you as students will be welcome to attend free of charge. Exhibitions are held within our very own artOne Gallery based in our Bishop Otter campus in Chichester. The University of Chichester welcomes a variety of guest speakers that regularly visit to speak to our students. A few examples of guests include Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, award winning artist Ali Lapper, Peaky Blinders producer Laurie Borg, actress & comedian Catherine Tate, international netball player Geva Mentor CBE and James Bond screenwriter Robert Wade. As a student, you will have the unforgettable opportunity to attend these talks for free.

Outside of lecture times, our Humanities department welcome award-winning novelists, historians and high-profile figures from the law industry to the university to talk to students. You will be able to attend these events for free allowing you to gain a unique insight and perspective from industry experts. For English and Creative Writing students, the department runs ‘Publishing Panels’ where you will get the chance to meet and speak to publishers, agents and authors. This gives you the perfect opportunity to ask industry professionals any questions you may have, providing you with all important knowledge and understanding of the industry.
