Service User and Carer Opportunities

If you’ve used health and social care services and would like to help our students become the professionals you would like to partner with in their future roles, then we would very much like to hear from you.

There are arrange of opportunities to explore appropriate to your time and availability both as an individual or in groups where your involvement can really make a difference.

We have a number of ways of recognising your contribution and  for any opportunity, a full induction is provided as well as ongoing training and support as needed.  For additional information and to express your interest please contact Pamela Baker.

Student recruitment

You may like to be involved in student recruitment.  Both individual and group participation would be welcome.

This can include reviewing applicant responses to scenarios, contributing to interview panels, designing questions to be used in interviews; creating digital resources which applicants are asked to view and discuss; and by providing feedback to inform offer decisions.

Course design and evaluation

You may like to be involved in the development of our courses. This opportunity would involve suggesting content for the course and reviewing and agreeing the final content. 

The course will also continue to be evaluated and you make want to provide feedback (from yourselves or other service users and carers) on the experience of participating in the course.   

Both individual and group participation is welcome.

Student Learning

You may like to be involved in student learning.  This opportunity would involve both participating in pre-recorded and / or live sessions. 

All sessions will be facilitated by a lecturer and debrief will be provided.  Typical sessions include sharing your lived experience, discussing the collective experience of service users and carers and participating in practical skills sessions. 

Both individual and group participation would be welcome.

Student Assessment

You may like to be involved in student assessment.  This opportunity would involve providing feedback on student performance in assessments.  

All assessments will be facilitated by a lecturer.  Typical assessments include attending presentations, participating in practical skills assessments and reviewing materials produced by students e.g. an educational leaflet. 

Both individual and group participation would be welcome.
