What is GraduateOn?

GraduateOn offers paid internships for University of Chichester 2nd and final year students with local employers in West Sussex and its neighbouring counties.  We find and advertise graduate-level, paid, internship opportunities with businesses and organisations that may lead to full time employment.

What is an internship?

An internship is a fixed term graduate-level, temporary work experience within a business or other employer organisation and should lead to the development of skills that support your employability;

When do the internships take place?

GraduateOn advertises internships that start from June 2017.

If you are a second year student, you can only apply for student summer internships which take place between June and end August 2017.  The 2017 student programme will close 31st August.

If you are a final year student, you can also apply for graduate internships which may be advertised up until 24th December 2017 when the graduate programme will close. 

How do I find out what internships are available?

Details of the opportunities will be sent to you directly once you are registered and we regularly upload them to Moodle.

How do I apply to GraduateOn?

Before you can apply for a GraduateOn Internship you must be registered on the GraduateOn scheme.  To register, we need your completed application form, CV and covering letter.

To be eligible to register on the GraduateOn programme, you must be a current second or final year student at the University of Chichester

We strongly advise that you take advantage of the help that is available from the Careers and Employability Service.  The Careers Consultants can check your existing CV and covering letter or help you from scratch with a new one.  All you need to do to arrange an appointment is visit TARGETConnect via Moodle. 

Alternatively, you can send your CV and covering letter direct to  If we feel that some positive changes could be made to either or both documents, you will be asked if you agree to these being forwarded onto Careers so they can advise you.

How do I apply for an internship?

You should submit your CV and covering letter tailored specifically to the internship you are applying for to and it will be forwarded to the employer.

Important: When applying for any internship, please make a note of the date of the interview and expected start date.  If you know that you will not be available on the interview date given or anytime during the internship, please do not apply.

How many internships can I apply for?

There is no restriction on the number of internships you can apply for at once, or while you are registered with GraduateOn.  However, if you do apply for more than one role for the same time period, once you have accepted an offer of employment you must withdraw your application/s for the other roles.

How will I know if I have been chosen for interview?

If you are selected for interview, the employer will contact you direct and liaise with you throughout the interview process.

If you are unsuccessful at this stage, the GraduateOn team will let you know.

What happens if I get the internship?

If you are successful, the employer will contact you with the offer of employment, agree your start date and issue you with a contract of employment.

If you are unsuccessful the employer will contact you to let you know and we recommend that they provide you with constructive feedback that you can use for future applications.

How long can I stay registered with GraduateOn if I am a second year student?

Second year students can carry forward after the end of August 2017 and be eligible as final year students for Summer 2018, remaining registered on the GraduateOn programme until 24th December 2018.  After this point, you will not be sent and will not be eligible to apply for new internships. 

How long can I stay registered with GraduateOn if I am a final year student/2017 graduate?

Registration for final year students/2017 graduates will cease on 24th December 2017 after which point you will not be sent and not be eligible to apply for new internships.  However, you may continue an internship which starts before but finishes after this date.

How do I find out what internships are available?

Details of the opportunities will be sent only to students registered with GraduateOn when they become available from May 2017.
